JOHN TYLER CRAWFORD

1907-1908

John Tyler Crawford- First Worshipful Master of Pampa Lodge No. 966, 1908-1909.  A very well respected Confederate Civil War Veteran, known as “the Grand Old Man of Pampa”, J. T, and his wife moved to Pampa in 1902. Born in Tennessee in 1844, he enlisted in the 26th Tennessee Infantry at age 17 with his Father and Brother in 1861, serving four years. Mr. Crawford passed away suddenly in Pampa in May of 1935 only hours after hearing of the death of his good friend T. D. Hobart. He was buried in Fairview Cemetery in Pampa with full Masonic Honors, his casket draped with the Confederate Flag. His photo still hangs in Pampa Lodge among the Past Masters.

Arriving from England in Pampa with less than $20 dollars, this man helped shape the Community we enjoy today. We are forever in his debt.

1914-1915

Englishman, businessman, Pampa Founder and Philanthropist, we see his generosity every day, everywhere in our City.


TIMOTHY DWIGHT HOBART

1914-1915, 1915-1916

A strong willed Vermonter, he came to Texas in 1882 and settled in Mobeetie in 1886, sharing an office with Sam Houston’s youngest son, Attorney Temple Houston. He later became the second manager of the White Deer Land Company, and was responsible for offering C P Buckler a job while on a business trip in England.
