DISTRICT 98 MASTERS WARDENS AND SECRETARY’S ASSOCIATION
MISSION STATEMENT
THE DISTRICT 98 MASTERS, WARDENS, AND SECRETARY’S ASSOCIATION WAS FORMED AS A COOPERATIVE SERVICE ORGANIZATION DEPENDENT UPON THE MASONIC LODGES OF DISTRICT 98 FOR SUPPORT. IT HAS NO AUTHORITY OR RIGHT TO CONCERN ITSELF IN ANY MANNER WITH THE BUSINESS OR OTHER AFFAIRS OF THE LODGES OF THIS DISTRICT OR ANY MEMBER THEREOF.

TO PROMOTE A COOPERATIVE PLAN OF ATTENDANCE WHEN THE LODGES OF THE DISTRICT ACT AS HOST TO GRAND MASTERS VISITS OR REGIONAL OR DISTRICT VISITS, CONFERENCES, OR OTHER MASONIC EVENTS;
TO FOSTER AND ENCOURAGE IDEAS AND PLANS DETERMINED TO PROMOTE AND INCREASE A BETTER SPIRIT OF BROTHERHOOD AND WIDEN THE ACQUAINTANCES AMONG THE BRETHREN OF THE DISTRICT.
TO INCULCATE AN ATMOSPHERE OF UNION AMONG THE LODGES OF THE DISTRICT WITH THE MUTUAL GOALS OF STRENGTHENING MEMBERSHIPS IN OUR LODGES AND IMPROVING THE MASONIC EXPERIENCE FOR ALL MASONS IN THE DISTRICT;
TO SUPPORT THE OLD MOBEETIE ASSOCIATION, AND MAINTAIN AND FURNISH THE RESTORED MOBEETIE MASONIC LODGE; AND TO PROMOTE AND ENCOURAGE ITS USAGE THROUGH OUT THE DISTRICT AS AN HISTORIC SETTING FOR DEGREES, MEETINGS, OR OTHER MASONIC GATHERINGS AS MAY BE DEEMED APPROPRIATE.
The Association is an active participant in Panhandle Masonry, and encourages Masons from the Lodges in the Panhandle to join us in making Panhandle Masonry stronger. We meet quarterly on the 2nd Saturday of the first month of the quarter-January, April, July, and October.
Recognizing the efforts of several Pampa Masons who volunteered to restore the old Lodge Building after its move onto the Old Mobeetie Museum grounds, the District 98 MWSA began to hold meetings there, drawing attention to the historic site.
Nestled among old elm and cottonwood trees, the locations serenity belies it’s rich history. The Old Courthouse, loated across from the Lodge building, housed the office of none other than Temple Houston, son of famous Texan Sam Houston, during his stint as District Attorney.
Being proactive and responsive to the needs of local Lodges, the District 98 MWSA has made major contributions to improving Masonry in our area.
Hosting the Panhandle’s first ever Masonic Rites Workshop, invitees from all the Districts in the Panhandle met in August of 2022 to discuss Protocols and Procedures of Masonic Graveside Rites. The Masonic Rites, recited from memory by a Brother Mason at the graveside of a deceased Brother, are a beautiful addition to the family’s planned Funeral Services. An altogether appropriate Masonic Ritual requested by most Master Masons. Performed as a last part of the Service, Masons gather in Lambskin Aprons and White Gloves to say their final good-byes to a departed Brother.
Through the assistance of the District 98 MWSA, area Lodges were encouraged to recruit members to learn the Masonic Rites to allow us to continue this important Masonic Tradition.
Additionally, in 2023, the District 98 MWSA created the Panhandle Masonic Cowboy Hall of Fame Association. The Mission of the Hall of Fame ( found here ) is to identify and recognize past and living Masons who lives have impacted the Panhandle of Texas and whose Masonic Journey influenced the Panhandle Spirit.
The District 98 Masters, Wardens and Secretary’s Association is a vital part of Panhandle Masonry. All Masons are welcome to attend our meetings; your help, advice and input on improving Masonry is earnestly solicited. Have an idea how to make Panhandle Masonry better? Please contact us or attend our meetings.
Meeting times and locations are announced a few weeks prior to the meeting date, and the agendas are made available to all attendees. All interested area Masons are encouraged to attend our quarterly meetings. Call the Pampa Lodge phone number or reach out through this websites contact page. Just send us your preferred method of contact, and we’ll put you on the MWSA contacts list, and keep you informed of meeting time and place. We would enjoy having you attend.
Working together, we’re strengthening Panhandle Masonry for future generations.
